LibraryThing and popular books
Okay, so I think I'm not using LibraryThing in the way that it is intended. I don't OWN all these books - although I do own a fair few of them. I have just read them - that is all! The majority of books in my home library are cook books (well they are my resident chef's books actually). Probably the heaviest 'real' book is El Bulli (the first one - a cook book from Spain) and the oldest book on my 'real' bookshelf is Strewelpeter (I think that is how it is spelled) which was awarded to my Grandmother when she was a little girl (it is probably over 100 years old - 1908 rings a bell - must check when I go home).
The most popular book I have read according to LibraryThing is 'The Da Vinci Code' (with over 28thousand people who own/or have read it) and least popular is Stephan Clarke's 'Dial M for Merde' - all of 12 people have read it or own it! I wholeheartedly recommend reading the 'Merde' series as they are all about trying to live and work in Paris and all the -ahem- 'merde' one can get into in the process.
I always love book suggestions so please let me know if there is a book you think I should read!

Widgets
I would like to post a widget to my blog however, due to the pretty background I am struggling! I would have liked to have added my LibraryThing widget, but I don't think it is possible at this point in time...I need to learn a bit more first!
As for the whole importing only 10 books at a time from an my existing library on weRead, I just had to do a page at a time and did it in 7 batches. Major victory! Woohoo!!!!

LibraryThing
Well I have just started an account with LibraryThing.
Having used Facebook for a while now, I already had an application on there very similar to LibraryThing, and decided I should see if I could 'import' my books across from my established Facebook collection. I went through a few different FAQs for LibraryThing, Facebook, iRead (the app on Facebook) and finally figured out what I had to do. I needed to send my Facebook iRead's collection to a weRead account (yep another login and password) and then import from there to LibraryThing. At the time, however, they only found 10 books to import that have ISBNs, out of 60+ books. Not the time saving quest I had initially set out on. A small victory nonetheless.

I think she sorta looks a bit like a butterfly! It was a bit of a challenge linking it to Flickr as when I first did this adn wanted to link it it lost the info...but all is good and very colourful!

I have uploaded some photos of my smooshy gorgeous kitty Boo. She is still only a kitten as we adopted her at Christmas time. She is a silvery grey and white tabby and has eyes that change from grey to green to amber. She is a very vocal girl, sounding very much like the cartoon character Tas Devil. She prefers to sit with Rob than me, although he does tend to spoil her more than I do.
Before you ask, her name has nothing to do with To Kill a Mockingbird's Boo Radley. It originated from her sticking her head out from behind the couch when she first went exploring at her new home, and a tiny bit from the film "Mosters Inc". There are a few more photos of her on Flickr if you would like to have a look!

Charger Saga
Right, after looking in the laundry (and putting off doing the washing), I decided that it would be a good idea to have a look in some other places for the Camera's battery charger. And yes, actually did get some cleaning done along the way...sigh. Which I supposed helped with the task at hand as I finally found it! Woohoo!
I have taken some new photos and even taken a few short films. I just need to find the lead that plugs my camera into the computer to download the stuff now...

Flickr
I've just completed a tour of Flickr and am so excited to get started. I have a lovely newish digital camera with some exciting recently taken photos safe and snug on the memory card. And I would like to take many more exciting photos. However, I think my house has a 'charger monster' (similar to a sock monster - but instead of eating socks, it eats chargers, like phone chargers and camera chargers and ipod chargers...). So instead of being able to use this great tool, I'm going to have to search the house (might start with the laundry - since socks go missing from there, it'd make sense that chargers might be found there?) and maybe do a bit of a clean along the way. Sigh.....

Templates, Skins and doing things the right way round...
I have to admit - I don't often go about things with the most systematic of approaches. So discovering how do do things to my blog has been more a meandering journey than a direct path. But I spose that is how I learn new things...we are all different.
So, can anyone tell me if there is a difference between a 'Template' and a 'Skin'? I figure there is a slight difference since they have different names, although I think their essential jobs are pretty much the same? My attempt at understanding what they are:
'Template' is a structured layout for my blog with possibly pretty themes?
'Skin' is an unstructured blank canvas with possibly pretty background?
And therefore a 'Template' is easier to use, for a beginner like myself?
Hmmmm....very tricky business!

To start with...
I've been meaning to set up a blog for a long time now and finally I've done it! Woohoo!
Apart from completing the Learning 2.0 tasks, I plan to write about, among other things, my journeys to work at various points in time. Hence the name Kicking Crunchy Leaves. It has been bewildering to see an autumnal scene in the middle of summer; leaves piling up on footpaths and gutters, fluttering down from thirsty trees. I have to confess I have a problem; an urge to kick through the crisp crunchy leaves and when there are heaps of them, dry and inviting, I just can't seem to help myself. I would jump in puddles, too, but unfortunately, there hasn't been enough rain to create them. And they can get quite messy, so I do try to refrain from that when they are around.
At this point in time I live in Carlton and so it's not such a long journey to work. It is also the first time I haven't had to catch public transport or get stuck in traffic, so it is a fairly enjoyable part of my day. On the way, there is a primary school. Kids carry their oversized schoolbags and at the beginning of the week they sling them energetically on their backs and by Friday they are dragged along beside them. It is nice to see such enthusiasm, since it seems to leak out of them as they get further through their education. Still, having taught at a few different secondary schools, I would have no idea where to start if I had to teach the little'uns. I would probably have to drink more coffee to keep up the energy.
